Self Serve Divorce is an online platform designed to make the divorce process more affordable and accessible in King County. We provide the necessary forms, instructions, and one meeting with an attorney to help you prepare to file for divorce without the high cost of traditional legal services. This service is best suited for uncontested divorces where both parties agree on key issues like property division. Currently this service is unavailable for dissolutions involving dependent children or those involving restraining orders. If your case isn’t a good fit for this service, contact our office to discuss traditional representation.

Self Serve Divorce is currently available to couples without dependent children under the age of 18. However, Anjilvel Law offers both full representation and unbundled legal services for divorces involving children. Visit the Anjilvel Law website

How much does Self Serve Divorce cost?

Our service costs $1,695, which includes the required forms, step-by-step guidance, and one meeting with a family law attorney to ensure your documents are accurate and complete. Court filing fees are not included. Additional attorney time is billed at $395/hour.

What additional costs might I expect?

The King County Superior Court fee for filing for Dissolution of Marriage is $314 (you can request a fee waiver if you meet certain criteria). This is not included in your payment to Self Serve Divorce, and this fee is your responsibility. Additional fees may apply depending on the specifics of your case. Learn more on the Superior Court Clerk’s website. If you need additional time with an attorney during the process, this is available at a rate of $395/hour.

Is my divorce guaranteed to be finalized using this service?

While we provide you with all the tools and resources to complete the divorce process, the finalization of your divorce depends on the court’s approval of the documents. We cannot guarantee a specific outcome, but our forms and guidance are designed to meet standard legal requirements.

Our package includes a meeting with an attorney via Zoom, during which you can ask legal questions. You can pay for additional time beyond this, or hire Anjilvel Law for full legal representation if you require it. The representation we provide through Self Serve Divorce is limited in scope to assisting with pleadings, filing, service, and providing information about the filing process.

What information do I need to start the divorce process?

To begin, you’ll need basic personal information for you and your spouse (e.g., names, birthdates, marriage details), and details on assets, debts, and any agreements made between you and your spouse regarding property division or support. We provide a template for you to organize your information before starting.

How do I know which forms I need for my divorce?

Our interview will guide you through the questions that determine which forms will be needed. We handle the legal complexity, so you can focus on providing accurate information.

Do both spouses need to agree to use Self Serve Divorce?

Self Serve Divorce is designed for uncontested divorces where both parties are in agreement on all key issues. If you and your spouse cannot reach an agreement, you may need to seek additional legal assistance.

Will your limited-scope representation cover both me and my spouse?

No, your Self Serve Divorce attorney cannot represent both parties in a divorce. The services provided, however, will enable you to work with your spouse directly toward an agreed divorce.

Where is this service available?

Self Serve Divorce is currently available in King County, Washington.

Can I get help with child custody and support agreements?

Currently, Self Serve Divorce is not available in cases involving dependent children. If your case does include children, please contact Anjilvel Law to schedule an initial consultation, where we will assess together whether our services align with your legal needs.

What if I have questions during the process?

We’re here to help! You get one meeting with an attorney as part of the package during which you can ask specific legal questions. If you need more than one meeting, that’s no problem—additional time is billed at $395/hour.

How secure is my personal information?

We take data security very seriously. All information shared on our platform is encrypted and stored securely. We follow best practices to ensure that your sensitive personal and legal information is protected.

Can I make changes after submitting my information?

Yes, you can make changes to your information before submitting the final documents. If you’ve already submitted your forms to the court, changes might require additional steps, such as filing an amended form. Contact us if you need assistance.

How do I file my divorce papers with the court?

As part of our service, you will receive instructions on how to file your documents with King County Superior Court. You can file in person at the Seattle or Kent courthouse, or online. You are responsible for paying any required filing fees.

Do you offer a refund if my spouse and I reconcile or if I change my mind?

We offer a 50% refund if you change your mind before meeting with an attorney. No refunds are available after you have met with an attorney.
